Australian app developer, Lilliput Labs, just announced the release of their “Mailboxes” iPad app. Mailboxes allows multiple users who share a single iPad, to securely access their Google Gmail accounts. Multi-user support is great for families or groups who share a single iPad and want to keep their e-mail accounts separate and the information private form other users sharing the device.
According to Lilliput Labs, users can easily setup an account and create a 4-digit passcode. Mailboxes will then manage your Gmail credentials using the iPad’s secure Keychain function. With a new account in place, users simply enter their new 4-digit passcode, after launching the app, to have instant access to their Gmail account using the familiar Gmail web interface. If you quit out of Mailboxes or if the iPad goes to sleep, the app will automatically log you out of your account, keeping your e-mail secure from prying eyes.
Mailboxes 1.0 is available in the App Store for $2.99.
